Trust your instinct always

Trust your instinct always

hi mama,

I just want to tell you that everything is going to be ok.

I know you thought having a second girl would be a breeze, I know you've done this all before and you felt confident that you had this but it doesn't make you a failure because you feel like you don't know what you are doing all over again.

Trust your instinct always and know that you will find the answers you need if you push for them. She will stop crying, you will find the right milk for her and she will start gaining weight and be absolutely fine, more than fine in fact she is absolutely perfect.

I know you've been here before and you want to stay indoors all day, hiding, pretending everything is ok but surround yourself on those braver days. It’s good to talk, get out for a bit even if you only have a small conversation with the checkout lady in Sainsbury’s you will feel better for it.

Be selfish, have that bubble bath during nap time, go to bed early and leave the washing up, know that these things will get done but they are not a priority. Ask for help, all the help you need, you DO NOT have to do it all. You are surrounded by family and friends that would hate to know you are struggling this much, tell them.

Go for as many long walks with the girls as you can. Walking is good for you and so SO good for your soul. Make time to think and just take it all in.

On those darker days know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There are bad days but trust me there are SO many good days. Days where your heart will feel full to bursting, where you are so proud of both of them, how much they love you and need you, how much they love each other, know that the good outweighs the bad and you sticking with it will create an unbreakable strength and bond with the two of them that I know you will be eternally grateful for.

Know that Abbie is ok, she is an absolute superstar and nothing short of the best big sister Isla could possibly wish for. Don’t spend too much time worrying about her, soak her up in every possible moment as time really does fly and she is changing every day right before your eyes.

And finally. Stop doubting yourself. Stop beating yourself up. Stop feeling guilty. Don’t take life too seriously and know that you are not winging this at all, you are trying your very very best and doing an amazing job at exactly that.
xx
