You miss the old you

You miss the old you

hi mama,

You miss the old you.... you miss her so bad and you know she is never coming back. You’re now a mama to the most beautiful baby boy you’ve ever seen and life will never be the same again. You look back at your pre-baby life and cannot remember what you did with all the spare time you had. You miss the utterly blissfully selfish life you led and want to yell at the old you who moaned she was bored! Oh to have that luxury now! Now some days you cry because the little tasks you used to take for granted now take what feels like an age (Who knew you were such an impatient person?!) You have always been a ‘coper’ and a ‘doer’ and yet some days the smallest of tasks feel like they might break you. Being a new mama is the hardest job you have had to do and none of the organised things you put in place when you were pregnant (hello colour coded wardrobe!) make a difference... life as you know it has changed.

But one year on, as you cry happy tears as you blow out the candle on your baby's 1st birthday cake, you love your new life. You don’t want to be the old you anymore, you love the new you. Your baby boy has shown you a happiness that you never knew existed and the 3 of you are the perfect little team. The little things have become the big things and you couldn’t be happier. Life has become easier, you learn what your baby does and doesn’t like, you settle into the routine you dreamed about in the newborn haze - you become more confident and empowered. Fake it until you make it... and you made it mama! Your baby boy is happy and so are you.

So remember, you don't need to worry about losing your friends who don't have babies- if you do they were never true friends. You will make new friends with some of the most awesome women ever and you cant remember not having them in your life. You don't need to push yourself to do things you don't really want to - say no without explanation. That last stone (and half!) of baby weight isn’t important, making memories are. You’ve got this and you’re so excited to see what the future has in store.

Love always,
